Beautiful love, you're all a mystery Beautiful love, what have you done to me? I was contented till you came along Thrilling my soul with your song Beautiful love, I've roamed your paradise Searching for love, my dream to realize Reaching for heaven, depending on you Beautiful love, will my dreams come true?
2.
Alone together, beyond the crowd Above the world, we're not too proud To cling together; we're strong As long as we're together Alone together, the blinding rain The starless night were not in vain For we're together, and what is there To fear together? Our love is as deep as the sea Our love is as great as a love can be And we can weather the great unknown If we're alone together
3.
Georgia, Georgia, the whole day through An' just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind Georgia, Georgia, a song of you, Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines Other arms reach out to me; Other eyes smile tenderly Still in peaceful dreams I see, The road leads back to you Georgia, Georgia, no peace I find Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind

All Of You 03:06
I love the look(s) of you,(and) the lure of you The sweet of you, and the pure of you The eyes, the arms, and the (that) mouth of you The east, west, north, and the (that) south of you I'd love to gain complete control of you Handle even the heart and soul of you Love at least a small percent of me do 'Cause (Because) I love all of you
5.
Amazing grace how sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now I'm found. Was blind but now I see. 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear And grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed. When we've been there ten thousand years Bright shining as the sun We've no less days to sing God's praise Then when we first begun. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found. Was blind, but now I see

Night and day, you are the one Only you beneath the moon or under the sun Whether near to me or far It's no matter, darling, where you are I think of you Night and day, day and night, why is it so That this longing for you follows wherever I go? In the roaring traffic's boom In the silence of my lonely room

I Love You 03:01
I love you come the April breeze I love you echoes the hills I love you the golden dawn agrees As once more she sees daffodils It's spring again And birds on the wing again Start to sing again The old melody I love you That's song of songs And it all belongs to you and me It's spring again And birds on the wing again Start to sing again The old melody I love you That's the song of songs And it all belongs to you and me

I am weak, but Thou art strong; Jesus, keep me from all wrong; I’ll be satisfied as long As I walk, let me walk close to Thee. Refrain: Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea, Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be. Through this world of toil and snares, If I falter, Lord, who cares? Who with me my burden shares? None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee. When my feeble life is o’er, Time for me will be no more; Guide me gently, safely o’er To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

I am not such a clever one About the latest fads I admit I was never one Adored by local lads Not that I ever try to be a saint I'm the type that they classify as quaint I'm old fashioned I love the moonlight I love the old fashioned things The sound of rain Upon a window pane The starry song that April sings This year's fancies Are passing fancies But sighing sighs holding hands These my heart understands I know I'm old fashioned But I don't mind it That's how I want to be As long as you agree To stay old fashioned with me I'm old fashioned But I don't mind it That's how I want to be As long as you agree To stay old fashioned with me Oh won't you stay old fashioned with me Oh please stay old fashioned with me

[MRS. SOWEBERRY (spoken)] Right then, Oliver Twist, your bed's underneath the counter. You don't mind sleeping among coffins I suppose? It don't much matter whether you do or you don't cause you can't sleep nowhere else! [OLIVER] Where is love? Does it fall from skies above? Is it underneat the willow tree That I've been dream of? Where is she? Who I close my eyes to see? Will I ever know the sweet "hello" That's only meant for me? Who can say where she may hide? Must I travel far and wide? 'Til I am bedside the someone who I can mean somethin to ... Where...? Where is love? Who can say where...she may hide? Must I travel...far and wide? 'Til I am beside...the someone who I can mean...something to... Where? Where is love?

When you wish upon a star Makes no difference who you are Anything your heart desires Will come to you If your heart is in your dream No request is too extreme When you wish upon a star As dreamers do Fate is kind She brings to those to love The sweet fulfillment of Their secret longing Like a bolt out of the blue Fate steps in and sees you through When you wish upon a star Your dreams come true

about

Dave Renaud is a Jazz clarinet with a lyrical fluidity reflective of his classical background but reflectove of decades of experience in the jazz idiom. He is an Ottawa based Jazz woodwind and clarinet player who brings a wealth of diversity to the table. Dave is an associate professor of clarinet at Carleton University, a regular extra with NAC orchestra pops concerts, pit musician, studio musician, and very active freelancer.

Montreal-born pianist Brian Browne has long been regarded as one of the leading proponents of jazz piano in Canada. Browne's distinctive, bluesy piano style swings with traces of Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, Errol Garner and Bill Evans, yet the sound is unmistakably his own.

"First Love" has many faces. The music that early in life first provided a way back. Featuring clarinet, my first wind instrument and first study. The album is dedicated to my wife , Manon, who has given so much. A first album release. I've included two spiritual tunes, Amazing Grace and A Closer Walk With Thee , touching on that which completed the journey. The Boesendorfer grand piano used is one I rebuilt, voiced, and tuned, a trade I also love. Life presents more opportunity then time, and life is full of music. This first album captures moments reflecting upon the journey. Integrated into its framework are elements representing everything that has been most important.
Many thanks to Brian Browne. His piano sessions captured great creativity , sensitivity, and care. Beautiful, sensible jazz that inspired the clarinet trax. Also, thank you to Mike Mullin who assisted with so many technical aspects of this recording.
"Beautiful Love" is the theme, "Alone Together" is the paradigm, "Georgia" is longing for something or someone afar off, "All of You" is the invitation, "Amazing Grace" is the offering, "Night and Day" is the commitment, "I Love You" is the result, "Just a Closer Walk" is the journey, "I'm Old Fashioned" is the disposition, "Where is Love" is the question, and "When You Wish Upon a Star" is about hopes and dreams as we look to the future.
